The Caribbean Environment Programme wishes to enhance coverage of the environment as a development issue by collaborating with print and broadcast media in the Wider Caribbean Region, with a view to promoting informed public debate, community mobilisation, and accountability and transparency in national efforts to address environmental issues.

Training workshops implemented in collaboration with PANOS Caribbean are an important component in the media’s response as they provide a platform for journalists to interact with each other, and key stakeholders in the environment. They also help journalists to understand technical information and help them to shape the articles/features to be produced.

The CEP welcomes requests for information and have developed a number of tools to promote issues affecting the marine and coastal environment such as invasive species, landbased sources of pollution, climate change, and unsustainable extraction of resources.
