Vacancy - Bilingual Secretary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Bilingual Secretary to SPAW/AMEP Programme Officer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under
the general supervision of the Coordinator of CAR/RCU and the direct
supervision of the SPAW/AMEP Programme Officer, the incumbent will be
responsible for pursuing the following duties:
- Assist with the preparation of documents, drafting correspondence and making travel arrangements for supervisor
- Assist in the preparation of meetings, type the agenda, list of participants and working documents for the meetings as well as send out invitations to the meeting participants; provide secretarial services during meetings by tying and distributing reports of meetings as required;
- Review documents in Spanish/French produced by the RCU and provide unofficial translation from Spanish/French to English and vice versa
- Maintain listserve for SPAW/AMEP Regional Programme, disseminate information to SPAW/AMEP Contracting Parties (governments) and partner organizations;
- Assist in the updating of the webpage of UNEP-CAR/RCU and/or the project webpage and keeping it up-to-date with the relevant information;
- Handle queries pertaining to the substantive office, receive telephone calls, answer routine queries and receive visitors for the Programme Officer;
- Assist in and undertake other tasks as per the request of the office.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Completion of Secondary school or equivalent required. Post-secondary Secretarial training required.
- Minimum of four years experience relevant to the job
- Fluency in Spanish and French
- Passing of the UN Secretarial Test.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS AND OTHER SKILLS
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised fluency in oral and written English, Spanish and/or and French is required.
- An excellent knowledge of word processing software and good knowledge of other office applications such as databases and spreadsheets required.
SALARY
GS-4 Step 1: Jamaican Dollars 1,291,437.00 gross per annum, rising subject to satisfactory service in accordance with the schedule of increments, set out in the Staff Regulations and Staff Rules.
