Educational Background: Candidate of Law, LLM in Maritime Law
Reason for Choosing a UNEP/CEP Internship: To gain experience from working within a Regional Seas Programme and to learn more about marine environmental issues in the Caribbean.
Plans after Internship: Work as a lawyer, preferably with environmental law.

Swati Garg

Department of Internship: AMEP - Through the Planning Institute of Jamaica
Duration of Internship: 3 months
Educational Background: Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Affairs with a concentration in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management. I have a BA in Information technology.
Reason for Choosing a UNEP/CEP Internship: The internship aligns well with my career goals. I like to work and interact with communities and to contribute in providing solutions to their issues. Being in Jamaica, the internship also offers a great opportunity to experience a new culture and to better understand the environmental issues of a Small Island Developing State (SIDS).
Plans After Internship: : I plan to go back to United States to complete my Master’s degree and look for job opportunities with international think tanks/organizations like World Bank, United Nations, World Resources Institute. My long term goal is to go back to my home country, India and to make a significant contribution in solving environmental issues.

Educational Background: Attained my Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs (BSPA) degree. Currently pursuing a dual Master’s degree in Public Affairs and Environmental Science.
Reason for Choosing a UNEP/CEP Internship: I thought it would be a wonderful experience. An internship abroad to help me better understand what I am studying, and apply what I have learnt.
Plans After Internship: To complete my Master’s degree and work with Water Resources.
