For the last eighteen years, Nelson Andrade Colmenares has served the Wider Caribbean Region as the Coordinator of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Caribbean Environment Programme. As a friend of the Caribbean, his work and commitment to the sustainable development of the region leaves an indelible mark. His legacy is exemplified through his relentless efforts to unite over thirty eight countries and territories of the region seeking to sustain the use of their marine and coastal resources.

Despite the many challenges, his leadership and dedication to ensuring sustainability of our region and longevity of the Caribbean Environment Programme will be forever etched in the minds of those who had the privilege of working with him.

We thank you, Nelson Andrade Colmenares for your unwavering dedication, professionalism and sound judgement which tremendously impacted the region and our lives. We will miss your sense of humour, compassion, companionship and enthusiasm for our environment which contributed to your success and achievements in the Wider Caribbean.

On the occasion of this transition to the next wonderful chapter of your life, we join to wish you the fulfilment of retirement dreams and best wishes for smooth sailing across the Caribbean Sea.

We salute you and will always remember you!
