Well, the deadline has just passed for governments and organisations to submit their nominations to participate in the upcoming CEP meetings in the Dominican Republic. The past couple of weeks have been quite hectic! I mentioned in my last blog that SPAW is preparing for a few important meetings (IGM15, SPAW COP7 and SPAW STAC5) that are coming up in October later this year. Well, I have mainly been assisting for the preparation of these meetings thus far by sending out invitations to the focal point contacts, delegates and organizations that would be interested in attending these meetings.

My internship began on 14 May 2012, just one week after I graduated from university. I was assigned to assist with the protocol concerning Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife, the SPAW programme. This protocol aims to protect, preserve and manage in a sustainable way: a) areas that require protection to safeguard their special value, and b) threatened or endangered species of flora and fauna.
