DATABASES
| An integral component of CEP is the collection and dissemination of data and information concerning the conservation and management of the coastal and marine resources of the Wider Caribbean Region. To this end the CAR/RCU actively promotes the creation and maintenance of computer databases of such information. We endeavour to make these databases available over the web. Please contact us if you have any questions about the content or availability of these data sets. |
The Caribbean Marine Protected Area Managers (CAMPAM) Database |
Created by Environmental Solutions International (ESI) in co-ordination with CEP's SPAW Programme and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, this database contains information on Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Caribbean. For further information on this database and its availability, please contact ESI or Alessandra Vanzella-Khouri.
UNEP Chemicals On-Line |
UNEP Chemicals is the center for all chemicals-related activities of the United Nations Environment Programme. It assists governments in taking the needed global actions for the sound management of chemicals, promotes the exchange of information on chemicals, and helps to build the capacities of countries around the world to use chemicals safely. This office maintains the International Register of Potentially Toxic Chemicals (IRPTC).
UNEP Information Referral Service -- INFOTERRA |
INFOTERRA is the global environmental information exchange network of the United Nations Environment Programme. Through its network of national focal points INFOTERRA provides the necessary environmental information and information dissemination mechanisms for effective governmental decision-making.
UNEP State of the Environment Reports (SOER) |
Formerly referred to as Global Resource Info Database/Global Environmental Monitoring System (GRID/GEMS)
UNEP regularly produces State of the Environment Reports for individual countries and regions. These SOERs provide crucial information on the current status of the environmental health of many different countries. UNEP/GRID Arendal maintains an excellent collection of SOER reports for Central/Eastern Europe and the Newly Independent States.
