The Marine Affairs Programme at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada continues to offer a one year interdisciplinary Master of Marine Management (MMM) degree which is of interest to a broad range of individuals. Approximately twenty students are accepted each year. Subject areas include coastal area management, sea use planning, fisheries management, marine law and policy, maritime transportation, development of non-living resources, protection and preservations of the coastal and marine environment, coastal tourism, maritime enforcement, and effective management of communication channels. Dalhousie University offers a limited number of scholarships to qualified individuals through the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Financial assistance for this degree is also available from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The HMCS Kings Memorial Scholarship in Marine Affairs, established by the Maritime Awards Society of Canada (MASC), is available to qualified Canadian applicants. Deadlines for applying to the Master of Marine Management degree are January 31, 2001 (for those requesting financial assistance) and February 28, 2001 for all others.
