Objectives of the meeting

1. To share experiences and lessons learned in the process of developing and implementing NPAs in the framework of the existing Regional Seas Programmes in the Latin American and Caribbean region (i.e. the Wider Caribbean, the North-East Pacific and the South-East Pacific);

2. To inform participants about the IGR-2 which will take place in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, from 16-20 October 2006, with special emphasis on day 1, which will address NPAs (for information on IGR-2 click here);

3. To agree on recommendations to be presented by the Latin American and Caribbean Regional Seas Programmes; and

4. To agree on recommendations to be presented by the Latin American and Caribbean governments at the IGR-2.
