Regional Workshop on Coastal and Marine Water Quality Indicators and Methodologies to determine pollutant loads in the Wider Caribbean

This workshop forms parts of activities for the Regional Network in Marine Science and Technology for the Caribbean: The Know-why Network (See 'related content' below). Hosted by the CEP's Regional Activity Centre in Cuba, Cimab, the workshop will seek to agree on indicators and methodologies for future environmental monitoring in the region. The workshop will also seek to obtain updated information on the state of the marine environment and pollution loads into the Caribbean Sea that would contribute to improved priority setting and decision-making. Approximately 25-30 participants are expected with technical participation from University of the West Indies (UWI), Caribbean Environmental Health Institute (CEHI), Centro de Investigaciones Marinas de Colombia (INVEMAR), IOCARIBE of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of (IOC) of UNESCO, Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), University of the East and national goverment experts from the Wider Caribbean Region.
