World Wetlands Day 2013
World Wetlands Day is February 2!
This year is the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation.
In keeping with this theme, the slogan for World Wetlands Day 2013 is "Wetlands Take Care of Water". The objective of this theme is to highlight the relationship between wetlands and water management and to raise people's awareness of the interdependence between water and wetlands to understand that without wetlands there will be no water.
Join UNEP CAR-RCU as it celebrates World Wetlands Day, as a part of the National Event on February 1, 2013, starting at 10:00 a.m., hosted by the Natural History Museum of Jamaica (Institute of Jamaica) and the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) at Mason River Bird Sanctuary - Ramsar Site in Clarendon.
Mason River is one of Jamaica's Protected Areas and in 2011 was designated by the Ramsar Convention as a Wetland of International Importance.
