FOR PARTICIPANTS FROM SPAW CONTRACTING PARTIES
The secretariat will cover the costs (travel, meals, accommodation and ground transportation) of one delegate from each Contracting Party to the SPAW Protocol attending the Fourth Meeting of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) to the Protocol Concerning Specially Protected Areas and Wildlife (SPAW) in the Wider Caribbean Region (2 - 5 July 2008), and the Meeting of experts of the SPAW Contracting Parties to finalize the Guidelines and Criteria for the Evaluation of Protected Areas to be listed under the SPAW Protocol (1 July 2008).

Participants will be accommodated at the same hotel of the meeting venue.

Government nominated delegates of the SPAW Contracting Parties are kindly requested to submit the pre-registration form as soon as possible, to allow the secretariat to proceed with the necessary travel and hotel arrangements. This form can be downloaded from the Meeting website and should be submitted to the secretariat by fax at (876) 922-9292, latest 15 May 2008.


ALL OTHER PARTICIPANTS

All other delegates and participants from CEP Member Governments, UN organizations, and governmental or non-governmental organizations are expected to cover the full costs of their participation in the Meetings and to make their own travel and hotel arrangements. However, in order to have you attend as a registered participant we also ask that you kindly submit the pre-registration form to the secretariat by fax at (876) 922-9292, as soon as possible, and latest 31 May 2008.

When making your hotel reservations kindly quote the group name “SPAW/STAC MEETING” so you can benefit from the special group rate for participants to the meetings.  The special group rate is 98 euros for single occupancy. This rate includes breakfast and dinner. A buffet lunch will be provided daily at the hotel, at an additional cost of 29 euros, inclusive of water and wine.

Please note that the cost of lunch will be covered by the secretariat ONLY for the sponsored SPAW Parties at both meetings. All other participants are responsible for their lunch expenses, which can be charged to your hotel room if you so desire.

 
GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Upon arrival at the airport, registered taxis are available for transportation to the hotel at a cost of approximately 30 euros one way.


CURRENCY
The euro is the only currency accepted in Guadeloupe.  US dollars may be exchanged for euros at the Hotel’s front desk or may be obtained through ATM machines, which are available in Gosier and at the airport.


VISA
Nationals from countries who require a visa for travel to France, are responsible for making the necessary arrangements in obtaining this document.

-   12 km from the Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport
-   7 km from Pointe-à-Pitre
-   1km from Gosier village

ROOM AMENITIES
 -    Each room is equipped with A/C, cable TV, international direct dial telephone, mini-bar, bathroom 
      with bath-tub, hair-dryer, safe box, the choice of either a king size or two double beds in the room
      with three views: garden, sea-view or beachfront.
 -    Internet not available in the rooms.
 -    Wireless internet connection (at a cost) only available at the lobby and in some rooms with Wi-Fi
       card which can be purchased at the lobby or on-line.  

Please note that the electric current used on the island is 220V and electric sockets are round.  Participants are therefore advised to take adaptors with them for the use of their laptops.
