Caribbean Maps and Databases

The following datasets are available for the Wider Caribbean Region. A short description is associated with a sample graphic of the data, detailed information and an option to download data.

DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL  
The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) for the Wider Caribbean Region was derived from several raster and vector sources of topographic information. Elevations are regularly spaced at 30-arc seconds (approximately 1 kilometer). Additional information can be found on the GTOPO30: Global 30 Arc Second Elevation page.
This data file is very large. It is about 18MB compressed, expanding to about 410MB.

DIGITAL CHART OF THE WORLD
The DCW data set is one of the largest public domain digital vector database of the world in 1:1,000,000 scale. The primary data source for the DCW are the 270 1:1,000,000 scale base maps in the Operational Navigational Chart10 (ONC) series, and six 1:2,000,000 scale base maps in the Jet Navigation Chart (JNC) series developed by the DMA. Administrative boundaries, cities, drainage networks, land use, roads and towns layers are available from the following pages:
