Wastewater Management

Domestic wastewater is the No. 1 point source of pollution entering the Caribbean Sea. Obligations under the LBS Protocol for wastewater are provided in ANNEX III of the Protocol.

Overview

The management of domestic wastewater is a priority for our Pollution programme.

Our activities include support to the Global Partnership for Nutrients Management (GPNM) and the Global Wastewater Initiative (GWI) of UN Environment's Global Programme of Action.

We are also the regional executing agency for the GEF-CReW: Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management which aims to improve wastewater management in the Wider Caribbean Region.
