Children have an essential role to play in caring for our environment. The onus is therefore on the adults to ensure that they have the necessary tools and information needed to allow them to fully appreciate and care for the environment in which they live. The Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP) in collaboration with other organisations have publications available to help children become more aware of the marine and coastal environment along with the endangered species in the Wider Caribbean Region and what they can do to help in the protection and development of the environment.

CyberSchoolBus is a United Nations global teaching and learning project.

TUNZA - treat our planet with care and affection

TUNZA is a word in Kiswahili (the common language of most East African countries) that means to "treat with care".

Theprogramme is based on a strategy that aims to provide young people withinformation and tools on how to "treat Mother Earth with care" and howto Act for a better world.

UNEP works in partnership with Children and Youth from all over the world.

Marine Bio Kids

- Cool sites, games and puzzles online... most involve Marine Biology but some are simply fun.

Kids against marine litter

Several agencies and organizations working with the issue of marine litter (marine debris) offer educational material and special activities for children. The overall purpose of these efforts is to make children familiar with the marine environment, make them care about it and understand the consequences of abusing it. The educational programmes are about waste management in general and/or about marine litter in particular. A few examples of programmes and activities targetting children/students (and their teachers) are given here.

LBS Protocol Collage Competition

In celebration of the Entry into Force of the Protocol Concerning Pollution from Land-Based Sources and Activities (LBS) “A Future that is Pollution Free – Join Hands to Protect our Caribbean Sea” UNEP-CEP invites children from the ages of 12 to 18 to participate through their school class, environmental club, faith-based group, community or youth organization.
