Strengthening Cooperation between the Amazon & Caribbean Regions

Mr. Christopher Corbin is attending the Amazon & Caribbean Regional Workshop for GEF International Waters Learning Exchange and Resource Network (IW:LEARN) Projects from May 6-13, 2017 in Belem, Brazil. 

The workshop is centered on providing a space for the exchange of information and experiences between Amazonian and Caribbean experts related to ongoing GEF-and other projects in the region and the impacts of sediment/nutrient transport from the Amazon Basin to the Caribbean Region, and the impacts of CC (sea level rise) on the coastlines of the region among representatives of the UN Environment and other regional and international organizations.  Mr. Corbin will be sharing lessons of GEF Projects (Caribbean Large Marine Ecosystem (CLME) and Caribbean Regional Fund on Wastewater Management (CReW) Projects).

Additionally, during the workshop an Amazon - Caribbean joint (twinning) project proposal will be drafted for implementing an integrated planning and management approach for coastal and marine areas of Amazon-Guyana-Caribbean region, as a result of climate change.
