AMEP - Assessment and Management of Environmental Pollution

The AMEP Sub-programme (Assessment and Management of Environmental Pollution) concerns the assessment and management of environmental pollution and provides regional co-ordination for the implementation of the Protocol concerning Pollution from Land-based Sources and Activities (LBS Protocol) and the Protocol concerning Co-operation in Combating Oil Spills in the Wider Caribbean Region (Oil Spills Protocol).

AMEP supports the activities required for the establishment of necessary measures to prevent, reduce and control marine pollution and to assist in the development of integrated environmental planning and management of coastal and marine areas. This Programme is responsible for the regionalization of global agreements such as the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA), Agenda 21, and the Basel Convention.
